Castle Rock, Colorado
Completed: August 2016
Located on a steep hillside in a redeveloping area near downtown, this mixed use project presented challenges and opportunities for PLOT. With the building extending to the property lines on all sides, PLOT worked with the civil engineer to develop a series of rain garden planters to accommodate the project's storm water quality and detention requirements. Located in the tree lawn zone, these raised concrete planters step down between the sidewalk and street accommodating street trees and a variety of groundcovers that disguise their storm water function. That function will be revealed during heavy rains by water spilling from the overflow weirs that connect the terraced planters sequentially down the hill. When completed, the overall image of the landscape design will match the striking building architecture by BRS.
